Can I have both?

In a previous post, we addressed shaving before electrolysis. So, this begs the question, can you enjoy LASER hair removal prior to electrolysis? You can, when timed properly and for recommended areas only.

LASER hair removal is not considered a permanent method of hair removal due to the very, very high regrowth rate over time. That said, it can be utilized for debulking. Some of those treated follicles will not grow back. When they do, they can be retreated with either LASER hair removal or electrolysis.

The timing of combining both LASER hair removal and electrolysis is important. We don’t want to waste time treating hairs have been treated by LASER when we could be treating hairs in the anagen growth phase.

Here’s how to synergistically treat your unwanted hairs using both methods: Electrolysis first, LASER a day or two later. Wait two to four weeks for the LASER treated hairs to shed and the skin to calm down. Electrolysis. LASER. Two to four weeks.

That said, we typically do not recommend LASER hair removal for those planning to undergo gender affirming surgery. Regrowth with LASER is high, but it can take time for those follicles to begin regenerating hair. One might think they’re completely hair free and safe for surgery only to find hair growing from impossible to reach follicles later - follicles that would otherwise not be growing hairs had they been treated with electrolysis.

Electrolysis is the only permanent method of hair removal. Keep that in mind when planning your treatment options.
